Where do you want to go ?
Tikehau, of the Palliser Islands, is the cousin of Rangiroa since only 15 kilometers separate them. Characterized by its oval shape, Tikehau, a true jewel of the Tuamotu, is made up of several Motu (islets) of white and pink sand which border a splendid lagoon, and only 2 of which are inhabited. A magnificent postcard setting is thus offered.
The inhabitants of this atoll live mainly from fishing, fish parks, and copra harvesting. Motu Hararu, Mamaa, Tuherahera, Ohini and Teavatia are the main villages of Tikehau. This atoll benefits from daily air service thanks to its aerodrome inaugurated in 1977.
The Tuheiava channel is the only pass through which it is possible to enter the Tikehau lagoon and constitutes an incredible diving site. A magnificent exploration of the seabed of Tikehau is in order in this sumptuous lagoon, described by Commander Cousteau as being the richest in fish in the world.
The Tikehau natural swimming pool, containing various astonishing underwater species such as eagle rays, tuna, hammerhead or gray sharks, turtles and dolphins, is absolutely worth discovering.
Tikehau embodies the spirit of a Robinson Crusoe island in the South Pacific. It is pleasant to take your time and relax on its white sand beaches, surrounded by coconut trees, or to go for a walk, the wind carrying the echo of the waves breaking on the reef, while the golden sun tints the skin with its rays.
Tikehau Bird Island is a Motu home to numerous colonies of birds such as red-footed boobies, crested terns and blue-gray terns. Every visit there is incredible and memorable.
A walk through the village of Tuherahera, capital of Tikehau, diving trips, excursions on a wild Motu, to the lagoonarium, sunset cruises, crossings of the lagoon to the pink sands, or even a visit to a pearl farm… Nothing but pleasure in Tikehau.
