Where do you want to go ?
Fakarava is a magnificent atoll in Polynesia full of natural riches.
This atoll is divided into two districts, Tehatea and Tetamanu, and has two passes: Garuae and Tomakuhoa.
The main village is Rotoava, where the island’s main diving center is located. This village also brings together the majority of the population, which mainly lives from copra, pearl farms, fishing, and tourism.
Fakarava represents the second largest Polynesian atoll, with surprising marine fauna and flora. The wealth of Fakarava lies in its crystalline lagoon, which makes it an extraordinary diving site. Groupers, Loaches, Manta rays or eagles, gray sharks, hammerhead sharks, dolphins and turtles have made it their home. The sumptuous coral gardens also enchant this setting.
Fakarava is one of the 7 atolls classified as a biosphere reserve by UNESCO, and has been since 2006. The main area concerned is to the west of the reef, where the observation of birds and turtles is possible.
Various excursions are organized to visit the pearl farms. Its white and pink sand Motu, which are still mostly completely unexplored, are home to pearl farms.
Fakarava, with only guesthouses, offers wonderful stays in Polynesia in the heart of astonishing nature.
